APOLLO ELITE ROAD BIKE
You know when you walk into a bike shop and there sitting in the prime spot is that bike. The one you wished you had, or wished you could take for a ride. Colnago, Bianchi, Pinarello all spring to mind Imagine how surprised was I to see that this time round the Apollo was the stand out.
The Apollo Elite is the second from the top In Apollo's race-line series. It looks like it belongs in Le Tour . The branding on the bike is superb a new strategy for Apollo. I recently got to talk to the guys behind the designs at the 2011 launch. They are no longer only a Family brand of bike. Apollo have a new plan, to build quality bikes right through there range and the race-line series is the best of the line up.
The Elite rides like a race bike should ride, yes it's stiff, yes it transfers the power beautifully the surprise is how well it keeps a line. the bike doesn't skip from side to side, it feels sure underfoot directional and safe at speed. The bike is equipped with a Sram red Group set and Easton components.
The wheels a welcome surprise are branded FACTOR an Apollo exclusive. Rumour has it the wheels are made by Easton, they feel like and roll like Eastons.
